Sports Videography

Has anyone had experience videoing sports events? If I captured highlights of a professional cricket match, for example, not whilst working but in my leisure time, and used the footage in social media, would I be infringing any copyright laws?

I don't know how England works, but in the states you might be infringing upon the leagues ability to make money from doing what you're doing. You're putting yourself in the position of being the competition simply by wanting to generate revenue, and they may not take too kindly to that.

I would get with the league itself and ask them. I don't this has anything to do with copyrights though.

Live? People do it all the time. Any game or concert or event you go to you'll see that thousands of smartphones are visibly recording and uploading the images and videos to Instagram. I think you're allowed to record in public events and share like that. You couldn't take ESPN's work and use it as part of your highlight reel though.
