Plants that last

I film events, mostly meetings and political coverage for my city and county. We have our own local news station. Anyway, I need to update our look, and I'm not fond of plastic, fake foliage. So, I'm looking for live plants that will last a long time and will look good with little upkeep. Which ones do you suggest?

Hey, Paul, I shoot weddings, so this is right up my alley. If the plants can get some sun and you're looking for blooms, then try the peace lily or violets. They'll need watered about once a week, but they're pretty easy to keep going. If blooms don't matter, then try the snake plant. It's a striking houseplant that can handle neglect like a pro.

Rubber trees are pretty and easy to care for. Spider plants are great too! Orchids are one of my favorites too but they are a bit harder to take care of.
