Making Dialogues

Doing this must be challenging since you'll have to have two people talking with different personalities that you'd have to imagine. You'll have to make a character first in this case. The statements will have to make sense, following the character's personality. Any strategies when writing dialogues?

It's better to take notes and start from scratch. From your prototype, you can remove the inconsistencies so that your character will make sense. After establishing a character, you can begin creating dialogues according to the character's overall personality.

Base them off people you know or have known. Conversations you have heard or been a part of. Real-life experiences are good to draw from when you have characters in a book who share dialogue.
