General to Specific?

During the writing process, how do you find yourself starting? I find it hard to start with anything. The ideas are fuzzy and disorganized, and I would wound up in confusion. Would it be better to consider the bigger picture? What's your technique when doing this?

I'm confused. Are you asking about writing a movie? I have been writing a book. I just start with the topic I choose and do a brain dump. A lot of times I do a rough draft and then it just falls into place.

I try to follow the pattern of introduction, body, and conclusion. It's efficient using those parts as a guide because it simplifies things. Although it's mostly for informative writing works.

When I write creative pieces, I spend a lot of time bouncing ideas off of other people, refining it before I do much actual writing. So, in that sense, I start with general ideas and narrow it down to a specific one over time.
