Finding better clients

If you specialize in documentaries; and you've been working gigs here and there for random clients, how can you get the attention of big production companies and land a full time contract? Does anyone have any pointers on how to network and/or contact people in companies like BBC, National Geographic etc? Please share your ideas if you've had the same experience.

Get an agent and let him or her do it. Saturate them with emails, pitches, and everything you can think of.

Keep getting better at your craft and keep bugging them.

I wish I was "found"... I agree with the advice of getting and agent. Of course you need to be good enough and have enough experience before any big company will hire you.

Pitching topics is a good idea, and sending them emails might work too. I'm not sure how quickly they'll respond because I haven't tried it yet. Preparing your job portfolio will help you organize before contacting them afterward.
