Does it Pay Well?

How much does a screenwriter get paid? I am obviously not talking about Hollywood or big production screenwriting, but what about low budget, independent films? Is it a good source of income?

This is an excellent question! I don't know how much a independent screenwriter gets paid, but I wouldn't expect it to be a lot. When I've looked at publishing stories, the pay is pretty low (if you get anything at all). I wouldn't expect screenwriting to be any better, unfortunately.
