Consumers Or The Industry?

Reviews come in all shapes and sizes, and one difference is consumer reviews versus industry insider reviews. Which one do you assign more importance to?

I think I personally would give more weight to consumer reviews, because they have actually bought the product and used it. Industry review can be useful for information about specs etc, but consumer reviews are from a usability point of view. What do you think?

Industry insiders don't have to buy the product they are reviewing. They may have a professional eye, but I would still go with the consumer review first. At least I know they don't have an agenda.

I am not a professional, but I also agree about following more what the consumers are saying rather than industry reviews. Consumer reviews tend to be real and genuine.
