Documentation for crime investigations is very crucial because these pose as part of the evidence. Imagine losing all the images you've taken. While at that, the crime scene suddenly got touched without anyone's knowledge. Being able to send it immediately to another device gives a better assurance that you won't lose your files. This model's wifi feature serves a good role for that.

I bet you'd need to send them over an encrypted connection, since the images are evidence. I'm not crime scene expert, though. I don't think I could handle it.

I'm sure law enforcement agencies have websites/emails that are very secure.

But yes, Canon did well adding this feature. It does more to speed up the legal process when crimes are committed. It's a public service, really.
